Why Should You Change Your Skincare Routine According To The Seasons?

As winter comes to an end, your skin looks gray. This is normal: the cold is gradually going away, and the needs of your skin have evolved. Our guide to adapting your skincare routine to each season of the year. Each season has its conditions! Sun, dry winter air, lack of vitamin D, cold wind… Throughout the year, your skin undergoes different types of external aggressions specific to each season. To help it hold on, it is, therefore, essential to adapt your care routine throughout the year. This is for two reasons:

  1. By choosing products adapted to the season, you give your skin the weapons to defend itself effectively against the external aggressions it suffers.
  2. By changing your moisturizer regularly, you prevent your skin from getting used to it and give it full power to stimulate and act correctly on your epidermis.

In Spring, I Stimulate My Epidermis With Vitamin C

Good news: the sun is gradually returning and your skin is no longer as dry as in recent weeks. On the other hand, in terms of shine, it’s not really that. The lack of light – coupled with Netflix evenings under the blanket – has left your complexion pale and without radiance.

My Solution?

I rely on products – serums, moisturizing creams, masks, etc. – containing vitamin C. The benefits of vitamin C on my skin are numerous: it relieves tired features, smoothes the epidermis, and fights against free radicals—a winning combination to find a radiant complexion in two steps, three movements.

In Summer, I Opt For Lightness

You’ve been waiting for it for so long: Summer is here, and your dry, lackluster skin seems like just a bad memory. However,  if in summer the skin rarely seems dry, it still needs hydration. Indeed, when temperatures rise, our skin is put to the test: sweat, salt water, and sea wind (for the lucky ones at the beach), and – in big cities – pollution peaks,  our skin seriously needs hydration.

My Solution?

I hydrate my skin but without suffocating it. How? By focusing on moisturizing products with a light texture, like a  serum or a  moisturizing cream with a fluid consistency.

In Autumn, I Fight Against Small Imperfections

While you enjoyed a pretty peach complexion throughout the summer, at the start of the school year, acne comes back in force. A phenomenon known as the rebound effect, due to a change in the thickness of our epidermis, itself caused by the reduction in UV rays. Your complexion is cloudy, and small pimples and blackheads seem determined to make their nest on your pretty, tanned skin.

My Solution?

I opt for anti-blemish products that don’t dry out my skin. I focus on products suitable for sensitive skin, 100% hypoallergenic, alcohol-free and fragrance-free, composed of active ingredients that fight acne, such as zinc.

In Winter, I Put On Iron Hydration

Every winter, you notice that your skin dries out, turns red, or even cracks in the event of extreme cold. An observation that researchers from the University of Copenhagen tried to explain in a study published on February 27, 2018, based on 40 volunteers aged 18 and 49. Their conclusions? When temperatures drop, the lack of sunlight coupled with dry winter air disrupts our epidermis, which now has difficulty producing the natural moisturizers it secretes in summer.

Result

our skin is drier, and without suitable products, it cannot regain its usual suppleness and softness.

My Solution?

Focus on products with moisturizing solid power. I opt for a more decadent cream than the rest of the year, and I apply a  hydrating mask once a week to plump up my skin.
