Healthy Diet: This Is Why You Shouldn’t Eat The Fruit In The Evening

Bloating, heartburn, sleep problems: fruit and vegetables are healthy and help you lose weight, but should be avoided in the evening. With a few tricks, however, you can also enjoy raw food in the evening.

Fruit and vegetables are not only incredibly delicious, but they are also bursting with valuable vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. But there is something else in the fruit: a lot of fructose.

This not only curbs the weight loss success but can also lead to digestive problems – especially in the evening.

Fruit Causes Heartburn At Night

If you have a sensitive stomach or are prone to heartburn, you should consider whether you want to eat acidic fruits such as pineapple or apple in the evening.

Heartburn causes stomach acid to escape from the stomach and return to the esophagus. Acidic foods like fruits can boost it.

Burning and belching are encouraged when sleeping.

Tip: Do not lie down immediately after eating fruit in the evening, but rather take a little walk.

The fructose in fruit provides the body with quick energy. This is great during the day, but in the evening and especially at night, we no longer need the energy kick – the blood sugar level shoots up unnecessarily and quickly makes you hungry again.

If you eat the fruit in the evening, your body is busy digesting it for a long time at night – and you lie awake in bed with a rumbling stomach.

Often the fruit can no longer be digested properly in the evening and thus remains in the colon. Then it ferments there, which can lead to a bloated stomach and sleep problems.

Why Fruit Makes You Fat In The Evening

Fruit contains fructose: a fruit sugar that is one of the carbohydrates. The metabolism of fructose takes place in the liver: The liver converts the fructose into usable energy.

If we take in more fructose than the body needs, the carbohydrates are converted into fat and get back into our bloodstream or are stored in our cells.

Suppose you consume very sugary fruit such as bananas, grapes, or mango in the evening. In that case, it can happen that the body can no longer convert the energy it has absorbed – instead, it stores it in fat deposits.

Salad And Raw Vegetables: Fiber Culprits

Low-carb diets are still very popular with many people who want to lose weight. In the evening, salad and raw vegetables land on the plate. Since lettuce and raw vegetables contain a lot of soluble fiber that swells up in the intestines, we stay full for a long time – this naturally helps with weight loss.

The fiber in fruits and vegetables also has a downside: They ferment. When they are digested in the large intestine, they are broken down by intestinal bacteria. This also creates gases as by-products.

As a result, when eating larger servings of fruits and vegetables, some people get gas – this can be very uncomfortable.

Exercise can aid the digestion of fiber. The problem: in the evening we move from the kitchen to the sofa at most. That is why eating fruit in the evening can lead to an uncomfortable feeling of fullness, gas, and sleep disorders.

In This Way, Fruit And Raw Vegetables Are Also Digestible In The Evening

But don’t worry, you don’t have to do without delicious fruits and colorful salads in the evening.

Fat can help digest lettuce and raw vegetables, e.g., B., in olive or linseed oil dressing.

Even better: enjoy the salad for lunch and use steamed vegetables in the evening.

Even if grated apples pimp every salad, you better avoid sugary fruits than salad topping in the evening. Instead, put a handful of grapefruit slices in the salad.

If it should be fruit in the evening: don’t panic. Your body can digest low-sugar fruits better in the evening: In addition to grapefruit, they also include blueberries, raspberries, papaya, and guavas. Even with low-sugar fruits, you can use a handful as a guide.

Highly sugary fruits such as banana, mango, or pineapple but still prefer to chop them into muesli in the morning or snack in between – then your stomach will have peace in the evening!
